“Mary Magdalene in the Cave” - 1876. (I didn’t even have to doctor this one! Thanks Jules Joseph Lefebvre!)

You need the right kind of date for burlesque. But with somebody open minded enough to know it’s not the same thing as a titty bar, the experience can be hugely fun (not to mention suggestive). While we will be doing a burlesque date round-up with Best Bets, Tips and all, we want to point out that this Saturday April 28 is Pinchbottom Burlesque. I can’t out-do their description so I’m not tryin’:

The Bible commands “Thou Shalt Be Drunken, and Shalt Make Thyself Naked” (Lamentations 4:21), but which faith truly embraces this dictum? Only one: Pinchbottom’s Church of the Almighty Posterior, led by Pastor Nasty Canasta and Reverend Jonny Porkpie. Join them for Blasphemy!, an old time tent revival and burlesque show featuring sermons by Jo Boobs, Julie Atlas Muz, and Father McTigger — all guaranteed “holier than thou!” Thrill to burlesque recreations of key scenes from the Bible, including: the annunciation, the crucifixion, and the resurrection!

Yes, just to clarify. That’s burlesque recreations of bible scenes.

Sugar-tits indeed.

When: Sat. April 28 at 11:00 pm (Though tickets purchases are bundled with the theatre’s earlier “transfigures” show at 9:00 pm (which is about “Jerusalem Syndrome, a well-documented psychosis that causes ordinary tourists to channel Biblical figures”) which may sound like a bad Robin Williams stand-up bit but is actually is part of the Women’s Project.

Where: Julia Miles Theater - 424 West 55th Street (between 9th and 10th Avenues). 1/A/C/B/D to 59th St. Columbus Circle.

Cost: $20 (+telecharge fees) though there are “rush” tickets for $10 Rush Tickets available beginning one hour prior to curtain at the Julia Miles Theater box office. One ticket per person.
